Cool

How do you spend/planning to spend your maternity leave before lo arrives?

Jan 27th, 2015, 07:34 AM   #1

It looks rather likely that I will have hardly any time for myself when my maternity leave starts because I'm likely to develop OC again and to be induced 3 weeks early. I should have two weeks at least, but those two weeks I will be babysitting my older boy, so it won't be very relaxing.

So... Can you ladies tell me what you are doing/going to do, so at least I can enjoy reading about your experiences and be jealous (in a good way)?

I'm not sure about this time as I have a toddler to look after, but last time I finished at 29 weeks and spent my days baking, batch cooking, online shopping, watching Netflix and having a nap whenever I felt like it!

No I loved it! I hated my job at the time so wanted to get away as soon as possible.

I have a toddler too but did manage to have a lovely chilled out few weeks.

We did lots of stuff around the house (baking, painting / arts and crafts, dvds) and we popped to local parks and went out for walks. Nothing too strenuous.

OH had some time off too so he took James off for a few outings so I could relax.

We had a lot of furniture arrive so OH built it and I just organised where everything went.

I did a lot of washing and spaced the 'easier' chores throughout the day.

I also ate a lot of cake and made sure I had a nap when James did.

I worked until I was 38w so I deserved the rest lol

Carnat oh James still has naps? This is lovely, I so miss it! My boy stopped just before he turned 3, and it was quite a shock to lose this precious quiet time after lunch. And taking naps together holding hands was so special!

I have left nearly 4 months before my due date (only a few weeks to go)

I thought Id be sleeping, relaxing , chilling out the whole time.

I was wrong, I've been busier than ever!! I'm hoping Feb is going to be quieter!

I finish up 9 weeks today (can you tell I can't wait!!) which will be 3 weeks before my due date.
It's my birthday a few days later so OH has booked us a hotel with spa not too far away so that we will have some quality time together before LO arrives....or it could be our first trip as a family!
The rest I plan on catching up with friends who are teachers so off for the easter break, lots of afternoon naps and taking the dog long walks to get this baby moving.

Last time my mat leave was spent chilling out, reading, watching telly and doing the odd job. I finished at 37 weeks and had my son at 41 weeks. It was also bit of a struggle towards the end cos of my size and I did get an bit fed up.

This time I'm finishing at 34 weeks. Baby will be coming at 37 or 39 weeks depending on c-sec so hopefully I won't be struggling so much this time. I'm planning on getting some baby rel stuff done, and sending my son to the childminders for a couple of days a week so I can rest too!

Last time I finished 5 weeks before my due date because of repeat bleeds during my pregnancy, I had Grace 3 weeks early so just had 2 weeks
maternity leave before she arrived.

This time I've had an uncomplicated pregnancy and worked until 37 weeks, my due date is Thursday. I've spent the last 3 weeks enjoying
quality time with Grace and relaxing and walking the dogs when she's in nursery. Also I've done a fair bit of nesting and had bags packed
at 38 weeks.

Maternity leave started last Monday and I couldn't be more happier. I had a busy week last week, met up with friends, attended parent craft classes had a ward tour. This week, im just chilling watching netflix, very tempted to do online shopping. I also think i should batch cook, but feeling too heavy and lazy to do so
