What A night :(

Aug 27th, 2012, 11:50 AM   #1

So the oh had planned a night out so i was left home alone and since he was going to be drinking he left the car at home, this is the first time he has been out drinking til late and not had his car so anyway his mate pick him up and off he goes with his beers. I told him to leave the door open as i couldnt find my key and didnt want to be locked in, its gets to quater past 1 i was texting him he said he might get a taxi home soon, 5 minutes later i hear the door it sounded like someone had opened it then shut it quitely as you heard the click it makes when it locks back, i rang my oh thinking it was him downstairs but nope still in town. Que me starting to panic, i start having a panic attack thinking there was someone in the house not knowig what to do, start getting myself into a state thinking that there was actually some scum in my house i rung oh and told him, he said he would try and get home asap, i started shaking and crying not knowing what was going to happen next, oh rings me a few minutes later after trying to ring a taxi and asks how they got in and was i ok and stuff and luckily he had locked the front door so they had only tried getting and not actually got in, i was still in a panic thinking that well if they tried one way then there going to try another, took oh half hour to get home all this time i was crying and in a panic attack so checked leos hearbeat but it hadnt even phased him, my tightening certainly got more intense during this time but calmed down again, just lucky that my oh had locked me in or god knows what would have happend.

We think it was someone in the neighbourhood who saw my oh go out and leave his car and knew i was home alone as my house is in a very open and usually has my neighbours outside with there mates and does not look like it contains anything decent so either they thought they could chance it or they knew they had oppitunity. Xx

I had a similar scare when I was 5 month gone with my first and my husband was away for work. I just rang the police and there were over ASAP they checked the back yard and the house for me but found nothing so I thought I was being dits. When I apologised for calling them out for nothing they said no they had another 17 house to check in the area so there was obviously something going on. They told me to dead bolt all doors and keep the dog in my room and feel free to call them if anything happens again. I don't know if I felt better or just freaked out more. It was nice having my Maggie in bed with me though.

Horrible thing to go through but glad it was all okay in the end. I think that something kicks in when we become pregnant/ parents that makes us more wary of stuff like this. I got my OH to put a chain on our front door as he works away a lot and I was worried about someone breaking in (never really had this worry before!)... I hope that you manage to relax today!X

Thank goodness you're okay! There was a series of break-ins around my mums area a few months ago, and someone tried to get into hers but luckily the door was locked. She lives on her own though and was terrified. She called the police and they were out within 10/15 minutes because there had been so many other break ins before that and were absolutely fantastic with her. Really calmed her down, had a police sniffer dog in the back gardens to try find the people and stayed with her until we were able to go down and sit with her. Really couldn't fault them at all, so if that happens again don't hesitate to call the police, hopefully they will be as great with you as they were with my mum! xx

Omg this sounds horrific!

You poor thing! Hope you have managed to rest up today and relax.

When we lived in south Africa for a year we were broken into several times and i had a panic attack each time, I know exactly how terrifying it is, and how vulnerable you feel when it's happening. Really hope youre ok. X
