Bad diet?

Jan 10th, 2017, 14:33 PM   #1

Anybody else feeling bad about not eating the 'perfect pregnancy diet'? I wouldn't say my diet is terrible but it's not been the best! My appetite still hasn't returned to normal so I just eat what I fancy and sometimes this is biscuits, crisps etc, I've been trying to eat lots of fruit as well but when it comes to dinner I don't fancy anything so haven't been eating many vegetables! I'm not overweight and still have a healthy BMI but have definitely put on weight over Christmas so feeling very frumpy and guilty!

Anybody else feeling the same?

xx

i wouldnt worry - ive lost my appetite and have suffered from eating disorders in the past. i brought my concerns up with the midwife last week and she said if you fancy it eat it, but try and stick to carbs to keep the energy going.

your baby will take what it needs xx

Ideally, yes, its great to eat a perfect diet and its good to make an effort to be healthy but its not worth to get over stressed about it. I had bad HG in this pregnancy and basically ate nothing for a month in tri 1. I was doing well if I could manage half a bannana in a day. Our little boy was born healthy at 40+1 and weighing 10lbs 5oz so I dont think it did him much harm .

I haven't eaten anywhere near as healthy as I would have liked. My nausea can only be lessened by constantly eating through it and I have had chocolate biscuits as my saviour as they were what I had available! I'm trying a bit harder now I'm in a routine again after Christmas but it's still hard when I still feel rough.

Thanks for your replies ladies, I'll try and not stress about it. It is hard, I am going to make an effort to cut out the unhealthy snacks at least! xx

Thank you - I've starting just taking fruit to work (I only work part time) to ensure I;m eating some! But I love my savoury, I could live off crisps! xx

I know fruit doesn't do it for me either - I just eat it because I need too!

Everyone's saying boy based on my scan pics too! I've always loved savoury foods so I don't know if it's a pregnancy thing or not! Definitely not fancying sweet so who knows!! Exciting xx

Not really, I've haven't had any morning sickness which is supposed to suggest boy but I know that hasn't been true for some! People have said boy to my scan pics because of the skull shape but I don't know!.. my gut feeling is boy but I don't want to convince myself either way! My OH really wants a boy! xx

Fingers crossed! I would love a boy but I would be just as excited if it was a girl!

Have you had it confirmed your having a boy?

I've had morning sickness for 16 weeks now. I've craved mostly savoury foods. I seem to have forgotten about chocolate entirely. I think hair and skin condition might be a good indicator. I had quite greasy hair before but now it never needs a wash. Similarly, my skin is less oily and clearer.

Are you still taking supplements? Maybe that would help to ease the worry.

We stayed team yellow this last time. OH was convinced we were having a girl because of the HG. I had HG in DDs pregnancy and wasn't as bad with DS. But he prooved us wrong by being a boy! I had the worst sickness by far in his pregnancy so it doesn'talways follow.
