Having another baby after a prem

May 29th, 2007, 14:25 PM   #1

Hi, I'm now 17 weeks pg with my second child. My first was early and half the time I don't know how to feel. I don't really feel too worried or panicky, it's more like I'm trying to ignore being pg until the baby comes. I don't want to buy baby clothes or equipment or think about names too much. I'm very happy to be pg, we have been trying for 4 years to have another. I feel kind of in limbo.

Has anyone else felt like this? Did you ladies go on to have another prem, or a term baby?

Hi, i had a prem baby at 32 weeks..

Im also worried about having this one early as ive been in labour 3 times already with him, you say you had him due to pre eclampsia, they wil moniter you properly throughout this pregnancy and im sure most women who have given birth early due to this problem go on to have full term babys..

read my story.. ive had a prem baby at 32 weeks,

Hi, it sounds like you've had a dreadful time. I read your story and I think you've been really brave. I hope this little one stays in longer for you. Have you found it more difficult as you reach the stage of pregnancy that you delivered at last time? I think that's when things are going to hit me - when I reach the 28 week mark.

Sadly, I have been told that I have a fairly high chance of getting the pre-eclampsia again. Although it's the same father, it's been 6 years since my last pg and they said that makes my risk go through the roof. I am being well looked after though, I started being checked every 2 weeks from 14 weeks. I am having scans every 4 weeks and losing armfuls of blood for testing. My cons is aiming to get me to 30 weeks this time.

Did you get given steroids to mature Bradley's lungs before he was delivered? (If you don't mind me asking) Have you had any this pg?
