Nausea and Erythromycin

Jul 10th, 2018, 21:01 PM   #1
Hello, I’m new, due early March 2018 and haven’t told anyone other than work yet so I need support of people going through the same thing!

I’m about 6 weeks and I’m struggling so much with food, I’ve not been sick yet but feel nauseous pretty much all the time. All I’m managing to eat is toast or plain jacket potato or crisps. I feel so awful that I’m not eating loads of fruit and veg and more vitamin full meals. Is this a concern at this point? Just feel like I’m not giving myself the best start by eating no goodness.

Also has anyone taken erythromycin in the first trimester and everything has been ok? I’m having a mild panic about it!

I'm a little confused why you would be taking that, perhaps I'm reading wrong. Erythromycin is an antibiotic. I'm allergic to penicillin so was given this for really bad conjunctivitis. It's considered safe in pregnancy but I would say if you've not been given it by your doctor not to take it

Also the sickness and nausea is completely normal. And not a worry to baby at all. Just keep hydrated. Hopefully by 12 weeks your sickness will pass.xx

Ditto, you should only take erythromycin if your Dr has told you to (and knows you're pg)

Don't worry about nutrition when you're feeling so sick, just eat what you can and you can make up for it later. Do make sure you are taking a pregnancy multivitamin, or at the very minimum a folic acid supplement - this is the most important thing to be topped up on in tri 1, and you won't get enough from food alone

Hope you start you feel better soon

That sounds like classic morning sickness to me. Don't worry, eat what you can and your body will catch up later. This happens to me every time. Munching crackers helps a bit but good old jacket pirates are my go to dinner lol. Hope you feel better soon.

I’m guessing you’re on antibiotics for some sort of infection? Could this be impacting on how you’re feeling? I would suggest eating little and often and staying well hydrated. X
