Stitch left in?

Jan 2nd, 2009, 00:21 AM   #1

Sorry if its TMI

I was stitched up after having wee man, and recently I've been able to feel "something" down there, a bit like an ingrown hair, feels like a tiny grain of rice under my skin. Well I scratched the other day and I think I pulled out a stitch!!!

There's still a wee bit I can feel, not sure if i should try and get it out?

Is it possible for these SO CALLED "dissolvable" stitches to stay in? Confuzzled!!

thanks ladies
PS its a horrible subject so im not expectin many replies

yes it is definately possible but get checked by GP / practice nurse so they can do it under sterile conditions. I wouldn't risk doing it yourself xx

i didn't realise at first but i had 2 stiches that didn't come out straight away. one came out with a bit of a tug when i wiped one day at about 5weeks and i found the other one when going to shave at 6-ish weeks and pulled it out myself in the shower
they'd already broken in one place but just hadn't come out of the skin

You know how when you pull a thread on a jumper, but you end up unravelling the whole thing? I wouldn't pull on the stitch for the same reason. You don't want to end up without any legs!!
