Insert squelching noise here (ranty mc rant rant)

Apr 1st, 2008, 20:09 PM   #1

...because that's how I feel atm

Basically I have had panic attacks from i was about 13ish. No particular reason except I sometimes find it hard to cope with new people...lots of people...and people in general basically. They calmed down just before and during pregnancy, but these last few months they've been popping up again.

WELL I got Bach rescue remedy and it was fantastic..got a new bottle a few weeks ago, and got mum to try it cause she has been a bit dpressed (read: mental) lately.

However, she accused my dad of putting it in her water which he didnt, it was fennel toothpaste but whatever. basically she accused him of trying to "poison" her
Funnily enough, when i looked for my rescue remedy today, oopsies, it's gone! when i asked mum if she'd seen it she got suspiciously narky. i'm 99% sure she's bloody chucked it. I flipping well need it, all 7 quids worth for a titchy bottle corse now I'm flipping out just a wee bit. It doesn't help that my parents have been having a go at OH yet again....basically making out he is a control freak who is going to hold me back...trust me, I wear no rose tinted glasses when it comes to OH but that is so completely unfair and it is pissing me off!

Plus I'm going to my first concert ever tomorrow, and I'm using my mates driving licence to get in, and I'm really nervous about that too!

Ok....crazy rant I know. Titter ye nat!

it's brilliant which is why I'm so annoyed at its mysterious dissapearance

I'm going to see Nightwish..which i don't even like that much now they have some new singer..so I'm going to be surrounded by a bunch of goths whilst I sit there in some flowery skirt awk well. I probably wont even get in

Firstly - Have you heard of mindful breathing? It is a technique I learnt in one of my outpatient sessions.

Basically it is deep breathing but concentrating on ONLY the breathing. As you breathe in follow the air through your nose, down past the throat, notice how your chest fills up then the diapragm and how your belly expands. Hold it for a few seconds then, don't exactly exhale, but let it go and notice the whole process in reverse. Take a few of these breaths without gulping in air, relax the neck, unclench your hands and make sure your tongue isn't glued to the roof of your mouth - rest it just behind the upper teeth. Try not to think about anything - just breathe. I find this helps when I am nervous, anxious, angry & upset. It takes a few goes as well before it helps but I never believed how much simply breathing could help.

I know how you feel as I have suffered from extreme anxiety as well - leading to severe paranoia & an inability to leave the house. (Amongst other things). It's difficult but it is a beast to be tamed so it doesn't lead you. IYKWIM. I knew this wasn't the real me - I have travelled around the world by myself & couldn't recognise the person I became.

As for getting in the concert - make sure you know the date of birth - AND the matching starsign!! For some reason they always asked me this.

Err, not that I EVER snuck in anywhere underage.

Lavender oil is also very relaxing and a lot cheaper.

Good luck with everything & pm me if you want.

that must be so frustrating! i hope u enjoy ur concert anyway, and re. getting in- think positive! i got into concerts when i was 14 without even needing ID even tho i still get ID'd in bars and clubs now- i dont think theyre that strict at concerts even when they are over 18 ones. and dont bother about the goths lol- iv known A LOT of goths and they are really not even daunting at all- theyre just a bunch of people with black clothes and dyed hair who look like they need cheering up- im sure you'll stand out and look beautiful!
