Metal Jewelry

Being that I'm in my last year of college, I decided to take a 'fun' class. It's been so amazing that I signed up for the more advanced class next term. Here is some of my stuff. I am not a particularly artsy person in that I can't crank out stuff, but I do seem to find inspiration every so often. Mostly with these pieces, I am figuring out what I can and cannot do rather than trying for the perfect piece.

The first assignment consisted of copper squares where we tried out the techniques we would be using the most:

Next was a hollow ring:

Finally, a bracelet out of anodized aluminum. My version of a French cuff with copper flower cufflinks:

The ring and the bracelet are so beautiful! I love the colour the bracelet (cuff?) turned out in the end

The back isn't so pristine because of the dying process and the size of the thing. Since it was sitting on the bottom of the pot while it was on the heating element, it has some spots.

The first time I dyed it, I didn't properly neutralize the chemicals from the anodizing back and had to sandblast all the color off and redo the entire piece.

What will the more advanced class teach you? Are you going to start making jewellery as a sideline? You could make stuff to go with your Husband's outfits he makes!

I am not actually using aluminum, so its durability is unknown, but jiyu aluminum sheet is cheap.
