Should I reduce my weight before tummy tuck surgery?

Nov 13th, 2015, 11:56 AM   #1
Desperately need advice from those who had done tummy tuck surgery soon after having their little ones. My tummy area is destroyed and have became kind of two folded after my delivery. I was dreaming of having tummy tuck surgery for years and I always hoped I could treat myself after completing my family and I have 3 kids (2 boys and 1 girl), I think I can go for the tummy tuck surgery now. I have planned to consult Dr. Sammy Sliwin in my locality (Toronto) and I think if there is any risk it would be great if the surgeon is nearby. I havenít made an appointment with the doctor, but just want to know if there is a need for me to reduce my weight before the surgery?

It depends what you weigh. If you're a normal weight and considered healthy there is no need. If you are over weight it would benefit you to try to lose weight first as it makes the operation safer (as it is easier for them to correctly calculate how much anesthetic you will need). Also it should make a neater end job if there is less excess fat to remove and only really excess skin etc.

Good luck!
