Baby gaga tickers

Jan 28th, 2009, 05:35 AM   #1

why do they change so late in the day? Mine still says 5+6 when it's actually 1.30pm here! I can't find anywhere on teh site to set my timezone but I want to see '6 weeks' written on there!

*stamps feet*

I think they are probably set on an American time zone, buddabun. In the UK mine flicks over at 7am, so I presume you are 5 hours ahead of us? But don't fret, when I look at your ticker I will remember that it's ALL LIES.

LOL yes, LIES!

It's now correct - 6 weeks

It's odd, some websites, if I put in my LMP will tell me I am 5+6 today, some tell me I'm 6, one even told me I was 6+1! You don't need to be a mathematician to count from one date to another and it's exactly 6 weeks. So what's the dealio? Why the discrepancies in timing?!

Also I presume '6 weeks pregnant' means I am 'in my 7th week of pregnancy' right? (i.e. 0+1 = week 1?) That confuses me too as some mean "Week 6" and some mean "6th Week" = week 5.

My head hurts

Yeah I know, it's confusing, isn't it? My ticker let me set my timezone, so I assume it flicks over at midnight. Pain that yours doesn't, ah well. I always figure if you think about week 1, you were in week 1 from the moment you're pg (well, not really, but you know what I mean) but not 1 week pg till the end of the week. So yes, when you're 6 weeks pg, you've just started the seventh week or even week 7 I guess. So I look at the next week in all the books, cos otherwise you woudln't be looking at the week 40 stuff until after you'd popped (assuming you were on time lol). Oh crap, I think i've even confused myself now. And I was trying to help. Doh.

buddabun! LOL u got my head all hurting now- not about the tickers though (think its just that many of them are american sites, and america is hours behind everyone else)

ur due date in ur sig is whats confusing me! if yours is 25th sept, then i am four days behind you (mine is 29th sept by LMP) but my tickers say i am 5+1, which if ur 6w is six days behind! one of us got the wrong due date, or one of our tickers is wrong! (or its just me being dim! ) my period started on 23rd december, so was yours 19th?

please someone help me with my due date! eep how far along am i lol

It's weird. I am counting how pregnant I am (e.g. 6+0 today) from my LMP but my due date I used one of those calculators that lets you plug in your cycle length (30 days). So TECHNICALLY my due date is 23rd September but if I'm taking into account those 2 extra CDs then it's 25th. But for all the tickers I've had to put 23rd as my EDD...

If that makes sense.

The ticker is only temporary until a dating scan anyway but what I'm saying is that it's been 6 weeks since my LMP

My brain melted

It must be both of you trix - you're supposed to add 9 months and 7 days to your LMP to get EDD - so I make that 30th Sept for you x but in terms of how far along you are you just count from your LMP so your 5+1 is right

Trix.

Mine last period i started on the 19th dec.
My doctor says i am due on the 20th sept. I am confused just as much as you all.
I should be 5 + 3. How i worked it out, but doctor said You count from the sunday before your last period
So i am 6 + 3

I am also waiting to see what happens at the scan.

What??? That's just weird Lisa I've never heard that before! All my paperwork says add 9 months 7 days to LMP date, which is what my mw did (although my GP did it wrong and came out two days earlier). I've adjusted for long cycle, so pushed back both my EDD and weeks pregnant by a week (hence why I'm getting 12 week scan at 11 weeks in case anyone was jealous!) as I reckon that's what they'll do after the scan.

I have never heard the sunday one.

I don't know how many days you're supposed to add but all the calculators online and the book charts I've seen put me at 23rd Sept without adjusting for cycle length.

With the 'weeks pregnant' surely it's from the first day of your last period as 'most people' ovulate at the end of week 2 and get their BFP at the end of week 4 (hence 4w pregnant at BFP). Obviously people have different cycles and test earlier etc etc but as a generalisation I mean

You can google "Pregnancy due date calculator and find a dozen good ones but I like this one best:

http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/923526833.html

It can tell you how far along you'll be on a date you choose (e.g. on May 1st, my birthday I will be 19 2/7 pregnant = 19w2d)
Or it can tell you on what date you will be a certain number of weeks (e.g. I will be 12w6d (12 6/7) on March 17)

I've bookmarked it 'cos I find it so useful if people are coming to stay or if we have certain events (e.g. a Valentine's ball where I will be 8w3d so don't want to be telling people just yet and need to disguise my lack of drinking) to know how pregnant I'll be.

Plus it's fun

ETA: This one doesn't allow for corrections due to cycle length but I guess if you just add 2 days to every date they give you? I don't know. EDDs are so imprecise anyway that I'm not that fussed over 2 days!

Yeah, the weeks pg is from LMP, but I figure if you adjust your EDD for your cycle length then you have to adjust your gestation as well. But like you say, if it's only a day or so why bother, with a five-week normal birth window even my full week doesn't seem to make that much difference!
