Nearly Two Years of trying and finally BFP

Jan 9th, 2018, 08:04 AM   #1

After nearly 2years of trying I finally got a BFP yesterday. I am in the waiting list for IVF and had just given up&was going to try and go privately as I feel like I'm running out of time because of my age.

I am over the moon to finally be pregnant& got carried away with planning the rest of our lives within minutes of finding out. Problem is I did the same back in May and it ended in a very early loss at just over 4wks. I'm 4wks today.

Does anyone have any good news stories to try and stop me from worrying?

Thanks

Oh babbybo! That is incredible news! My sister has a story similar to yours and she now has three! Sending you lots of love for a happy healthy 9 months! Xx

Congratulations Babbybo!
After a loss you lose that 'protective' mechanism that tells you 'this only happens to other people' and you start to believe it definitely will happen again. However the statistics tell us that the overwhelming odds are in our favour. At 4 weeks there is an 80% chance of taking a healthy baby home in 9 months. I find the numbers very reassuring when I'm having a freak out.

Thanks for replying. You're right rainbow-it is terrifying even though I told myself if I was lucky enough to get pregnant again I wouldn't worry and would try to enjoy it. Instead I'm poas all the time and worrying when it doesn't seem darker as that's what happened last time. I will never learn!

Congratulations! I think it's completely understandable you're worried, statistically if it's happened once it's not as likely to happen again now. xx If you want come join us in the September mummies thread, we're all pretty anxious and impatient at this stage, hopefully it might help you a bit so you don't feel all alone with it.

Thanks Elven. I had a look at Sept thread earlier tho it feels like I'd b tempting fate (tho it didn't matter last time). I also don't want to check estimated due date yet as it seemed worse last time. Back at work tmw again& dreading it as I've no idea how I will function. Mind you I've spent the last two years in work checking calendars and marking ovulation dates etcso maybe I won't b any less productive!

No worries, you don't need to join in with dates until you feel comfortable to do so. If you just want somewhere to chat where we're all in a similar boat, don't feel you can't. xx
