What do you think of when you hear.....?

What do you think of when you hear Peter?

I love it because it's my grandfathers name. But also to me it's very Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Peter was the oldest boy in all the CS Lewis Narnia books, and I see him as young, strong, holding a sword high as he's crowned High King of Cair Paravel.

My husband says it would end up being 'Pete'. Which was the name of the local dealer when he was at Uni. So a skanky druggy with long hair.
Or he says it reminds him of Petey the 'special' boy in American Pie.

What do you hear?

I think 'pan' (as in Peter Pan not just a random kitchen utensil) tbh but I'd be ok with that as I loved that story as a child.

Peter doesn't need to be shortened for convenience like some names do, so i'm sure if he always introduces himself as Peter then that is what people will call him.

I like the name

I see like you do a classic name from Lion Witch and wardobe!
I had Peta or Petra on my girls shortlist , as OH and I agreed on this moreor less, I wanted Peta and he Petra - the prob was my surname Jones, ther is already a famous Peter Jones!

Whats your last name ,will it go?

Last name is Wilkinson, quite difficult to match to names I find. It has to be a name that ends in vowel or a Y or an R, if you know what i mean. An open sound rather than a closed sound. None of the names ending in L, M, or N really work.

I don't know if this helps, but I've been a teacher for 15 years in an inner city comp, and have never taught a naughty Peter! They're all nice! X

I think I'm jealous!! I love the name Peter!! (But we have a close friend called Peter...!)

I think whatever name you choose, someone will always say, oh that reminds me of blah, or I knew a horrid boy at school called blah. If you like it, go for it, esp Peter
