Implantation Bleed the day of expected period?

Nov 8th, 2018, 18:59 PM   #1

Hi there,
I'm new to this forum and also new to the whole TTC thing. This is my first cycle TTC and also my first cycle that I've gone off the pill.

I didn't even expect to ovulate for a few cycles as I was told by several people it would take a few months for my body to adjust but surprisingly I had a positive OPK on the 28th of Ocotber (2nd line being way darker than the test line, so def. positive)
Now my period was suppposed to start yesterday and I had cramps and was sure it's about to start but nothing. Just light cramping and a little bit of brown discharge in the morning. I've been checking ever since and no more blood and my cramping has gone as well. So I don't even know what to think now.

Could it have been Implantation bleeding or is it because I have gone off the pill that my period is late even though I had the cramping yesterday?

I should be around 11/12 DPO today and I couldn't help myself and tested with my first morning urine today but it was definitely negative. (I know, prob. too early but gosh this is nerve-wrecking)
I'm trying not to expect anything as I've seen lots of people getting their BFPs a few days earlier already so really I'm just waiting now to see if AF is going to make an appearance today and I might test again tomorrow morning.

For symptoms I dont really have any except for tender breasts (which is normal for me though around the time AF is due) and I've been feeling really really hot the last 3 days especially at night.

Maybe one of you ladies had the same thing happen to them and can share their experiences? Im just really confused at this point and really trying not to get my hopes up.

Thanks ladies xx.

It can take a while for your periods to go back to normal and for your cycles to be regular. The brown blood could just mean that AF is on its way and will come in a couple of days.
What test did you use? Normally at around 11dpo/12dpo you would See a faint line of it was a bfp.

Good luck x

Thanks for your answer

I know that's what I've been trying to tell myself as well. I didn't really expect anything until yesterday cause usually once the cramping starts I get my period within a couple of hours but it's been pretty much 24 hours now since the cramping has gone.

I've tested with the first response, so thinking it would have picked it up by now.. hence the confusion
Guess it's just a waiting game now.

From my knowledge of first response tests you would see a pretty dark line at 12dpo if you was pregnant.
Try not to stress as this can prolong your period so just relax it will eventually come. My first period after coming off the pill took 6 weeks to officially show. Hope it isnít that long for you but be prepared your cycles may be irregular for a while until your body gets back to normal.

If you've just come off the pill it's probably because of that. Your first period after coming off it is not likely to be on time, as your body has to start ovulating again (remember bc blocks ovulation and you only bleed because of hormone withdrawal when you take the sugar pills). It's possible you're actually ovulating now - that can cause cramps that only last for a day or two, and brown discharge. I'd wait a week and test again if AF doesn't show.

If you really are 11/12dpo and pregnant, that's still too early for a positive for many women. It's just a waiting game for you at the moment I'm afraid.

Thanks girls!

I guess I will just wait and see. I wasn't expecting anything this cycle anyway as I know it can take a while for everything to adjust. The cramping and spotting yesterday as well as me feeling so hot all the time just made me wonder as that's pretty unusual for me. If AF doesn't show till after the weekend I might test again then but for now I'll just try and relax and take my mind off it.

Your comments definitely helped a lot!

AF made her appearance this morning! At least it takes the guessing off my mind though!

It's good to hear that your first period off bc didn't take too long to show up. sorry you're not pregnant this time but at least now you've had one full natural cycle to get to know how your body reacts without the hormones.

I know im really happy its not too far off from what it was when I was on the pill I didnt expect to be pregnant this cycle so its not too much of a disappointment! Will see what happens this cycle and hopefully establish a bit more of a pattern
